Description:
DESIGNED in the late 60s by Richard Teague, the father of the Jeep Cherokee XJ and Pacer – take a look at the award-winning ‘Javelin’ car. Brothers Mike and Jim Ring are known for having dedicated 4,700 hours to a 1969 Dodge Charger. Now, they’ve taken their passion into doing major bodywork and horsepower changes to high-end muscle car 1972 AMX Javelin. “Too much horsepower in a cool old vintage car, it’s a freak,” Mike said. According to the Ring brothers, the Javelin is an unusual choice for car enthusiasts. “If you talked to all the Ford Mustang guys and all the Camaro guys back then, the AMX Javelin was probably the ugly duckling” said Jim Ring. This did not stop the Ring brothers, and they set about an epic year-long project that cost them a whopping $500,000.

Yeon Sang-ho’s “Train to Busan” is the most purely entertaining zombie film in some time, finding echoes of George Romero’s and Danny Boyle’s work, but delivering something unique for an era in which kindness to others seems more essential than ever. For decades, movies about the undead have essentially been built on a foundation of fear of our fellow man—your neighbor may look and sound like you, but he wants to eat your brain—but “Train to Busan” takes that a step further by building on the idea that, even in our darkest days, we need to look out for each other, and it is those who climb over the weak to save themselves who will suffer. Social commentary aside, it’s also just a wildly fun action movie, beautifully paced and constructed, with just the right amount of character and horror. In many ways, it’s what “World War Z” should have been—a nightmarish vision of the end of the world, and a provocation to ask ourselves what it is that really makes us human in the first place.

Seok-woo (Gong Yoo) is a divorced workaholic. He lives with his mother and barely spends any time with his daughter Su-an (Kim Su-an). He’s so distant from her that he buys her a Nintendo Wii for her birthday, ignoring that she has one already, and that he’s the one who bought it for her for Children’s Day. To make up for this rather-awkward moment, he agrees to give Su-an what she really wants—a trip to her mother’s home in Busan, 280 miles away. It’s just an hour train ride from Seoul. What could possibly go wrong? Even the set-up is a thematic beauty, as this is more than just a train ride for Seok-woo and Su-an—it’s a journey into the past as a father tries to mend bridges and fix that which may be dead. It’s a perfect setting for a zombie movie.

The 14 Scariest Mythological Monsters In Horror Movies
Before they even get to their early-morning train ride, Seok-woo and Su-an see a convoy of emergency vehicles headed into Seoul. When they get to the train, Sang-ho beautifully sets up his cast of characters, giving us beats with the conductors, a pair of elderly sisters, a husband and his pregnant wife, an obnoxious businessman (a vision of Seok-woo in a couple decades), and even a baseball team. A woman who’s clearly not well gets on the train just before it departs, and just as something else disturbing but generally unseen is happening in the station above the platform. Before you know it, the woman is taking out the jugular of a conductor, who immediately becomes a similarly mindless killing machine. These are zombies of the “28 Days Later” variety—fast, focused, and violent. They replicate like a virus, turning whole cars of the train into dead-eyed flesh-eaters in a matter of seconds. They are rabid dogs. And you thought your Metra commute was bad

Meet the dog who loves riding around on his owner's Harley-Davidson - and even has his own seat and goggles for his adventures.

Joe Bughman, 61, built a custom dog seat when he spotted rescue dog Oreo wasn't scared when he started the huge bike's 1150cc engine.

Intrigued Oreo hopped right in - even resting his paws on the seat back rest to get comfy.

And now Joe and Oreo go everywhere together - with the pooch even learning how to shift his weight when going round corners.

Now the pair have been riding together for five years and the local celebrities are often spotted out and about.

Battery technician Joe, from Dubuke, Iowa, said: “He's a natural – he's funny. He's honestly the coolest dog ever.

“Most dogs would run away when you start a Harley because they’re so loud.

“Oreo would start following me around and I thought he wanted a ride.

“I fabricated an aluminium box which I mounted on the rack on the back of bike – and the rest was history.

“He loves it. He’s never tried to jump out - he's gotten so used to riding now he rides partially with his front paws on my back rest to see over my shoulder.

“He’s a good rider, he knows how to shift his weight and he’s pretty amazing.”

Joe, wife Penny, 60, and their two daughters adopted Oreo from the local humane society after Joe provided volunteer welding services.

Abbey, 18 and sister Erin, 21, chose the pup – who they believe is a black Lab and weiner dog mix – and Joe says he had his doubts initially.

But Oreo quickly won him round and now the pair are inseparable.

Battery technician Joe bought his Harley Road King brand new in 2003 for £20k and says he’s owned bikes since he was 12.

Joe and Oreo ride from spring to autumn – with Joe saying they’re on the bike “full time”.

“Every time I take him out, I’m surprised it hasn’t caused a car crash, people are so distracted,” said Joe.

“He just wants to do anything I'm doing. If I climb into a go-kart or anything the dog wants some of that.

“Most girls will say 'that's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life' - my standard answer is 'why thank you, but what do you think of the dog'.

“I can walk out into the garage and bump the starter on the Harley and that dog will come running down the hallway every time - it's the funniest thing to see.”

WOULD you drive your car into the ocean? Say hello to the 'Amphicar' - an amphibious vehicle that can be driven into the body of any water. In the 1960s, West German designer Hans Trippel presented the 'Amphicar' in New York. Only 3,878 units were ever built by manufacturer Quandt Group between 1960 and 1965. But Kerry Cheese, who restores military vehicles for a living, bought one of these rare cars from Canada and spent over $40,000 to bring it back to its original state. Kerry said: “It didn’t really need too much work; it needed more mechanical work than body work.\

A MODIFIED 1970s Corvette has been described as 'one of history’s greatest streetcars'. Custom-built by legendary modifier, Andy Granatelli, the Chevvy is worth over $800,000 and is capable of speeds over 180mph. It currently lives at the Rock ’n Roll Car Museum in Austin, Texas and is a stand-out piece in their collection. Boasting 880HP, it can push from 0-60mph in less than three seconds and has a gas turbine engine. Andy Schmidt said: “To drive this car, it’s not easy. You have to put a little work into it. There’s actually a fifth break that’s installed in order to help slow this car down. It can be a handful but when you get on the throttle, it’s all worthwhile. When you do hit the accelerator pedal, you better be holding on because this thing is going to take off.\

A RENOWNED automotive artist has built a $500,000 motorhome that you can drive from the roof. Randy Grubb, from Oregon, is well-known for building beautiful and unique chrome vehicles. Some of his masterpieces include the Blastolene Indy Special, Jay Leno Tank Car, Decoson and the $500,000 motorhome - the Decoliner. Inspired by the 1980s sci-fi space traveller Flash Gordon, Randy spent over $100,000 in parts and 6,000 hours in manpower on the stylised mobile home. Using the chassis of a 1973 GMC motorhome which sports a front-wheel drive, it allows the frame of the Decoliner to be very low to the ground, around 14 inches. This means that Randy had enough space to stack the vehicle as a double decker and for an additional driving position on the roof low enough to fit under most bridges and overpasses. Randy and his wife drove the Decoliner all over America, putting over 15,000 miles on the camper without being stopped for the unusual driving position.
