Description: During the early 1960s, traditional pop was anything but traditional. The success of rock and roll love ballads, for one, had given pop singers and orchestras a new medium to replace the influence 40's and early 50's swing had had on pop during the 1950s. Newer pop jazz forms and newer swing forms had also been created in the late 50's to give pop music a more upbeat and modern feel.
